FRAUD PREVENTION

In recent years, there has been a general increase in fraud globally. There are many fake shops used for fraud, selling fake items or phishing (identity theft). We want our customers to feel safe and protected when placing their orders, so we have some tips on how to avoid fraud and detect a fake website/online shop:

1. The name is key. The URL of fake websites isn’t the same as the shop they are trying to impersonate. And the company name or brand tends to be misspelt or have subtle differences.

2. Check the address. Look carefully to make sure the URL starts with HTTPS and not HTTP, and that there is a lock icon in the address bar. Not all browsers use this system, but most do, and it is a good way to guarantee it is a legal website.

3. Check the contact info. The company’s physical address should be reliable and easy to find. If there are any strange letters or numbers, don’t trust it.

4. The text matters! If there isn’t any text, the tax address doesn’t exist or the page is poorly translated, it may be a fake or cloned site.

5. Secure payment methods. If the site only allows bank transfers or cash on delivery, it isn’t trustworthy. Pikolinos offers the following payment methods. We accept all major credit and debit cards (Visa, Mastercard, Discover, Diners Club, American Express). Or, if you prefer, you can use Apple Pay, PayPal or pay in instalments through Klarna. In some northern European countries we also accept payment methods like Sofort, iDeal, Lastschrift and GiroPay. At the end of checkout, you can choose the one available in your country.

6. Careless look and feel. Don’t trust sites that don’t use language that is easy to understand, mix several languages at the same time, have text that doesn’t make sense or spelling mistakes. Look at the pictures too. If they are superimposed or blurry, they aren’t from a legal company.

7. Keep your data safe. Don’t click on windows that ask for personal data or downloads you didn’t ask for.

8. Prices too good to be true. If you see prices that are too low, don’t trust them.

9. Authorised seller. Always go to an official distributor or straight to the brand through its customer service department to make sure the site is real.

10. Doubts? Look up our business address or phone number online and contact us to make sure we’re behind the website www.pikolinos.com. And remember, if you have been a victim of this type of scam related to Pikolinos, we recommend you contact your bank and, if suitable, file a report with the pertinent authorities. The Spanish Cybersecurity Department is working to dismantle all the fake pages. If you have any questions at all, please contact our Customer Experience team at dangthuythuy13065@gmail.com.
